Ad for American Institute of Architects

Ad for The American Institute of Architects.
I created this illustration as a personal piece, which AIA bought. I find it so gratifying when something I create for pleasure is used for professional reasons. I will have photographs of the ad soon.

Adzuki and Mo

Say hello to Adzuki and Mo (possibly the last animal commission of 2010)! These cute little shitzu’s belong to Anita Lo! the owner and chef of Annisa. It was a complicated task working on this commission as her partner wanted me to include their favorite toys (piggy and bee) and Annisa as Mo and Adzuki are there every day to eat scraps, guard the door, and bark at bad waiters.
The solution I came up with was to make a close up portrait of the two dogs and their toys and use one of the squares, I usually just have a block of solid color, as the window. The windows of Annisa lend themselves to this ideas as they are rather large and square. I created different washes of orange to help create depth and the idea of the interior without being too distracting.

It was a fun exercise and I am really happy with the end result!

Food Network Blog

I was featured on the Food Network Blog! And how fitting that it be the recipe my parents have been making for as long as I can remember.

White Elephant holiday card

Invitations for the Joe holiday party. I wanted to incorporate the theme of “white elephant” which is where people give presents not knowing who is giving and receiving them. I wanted to make it nondenominational as the owner is Jewish, but lots of the people who work at Joe are not Jewish.

“….Charrow, who will be running Robot, Monster & Ghost: New York starting October 31. Our New York office will be specializing in illustration and identity design to start with. God knows what madness it’ll end up with in 2-3 months time. I can’t promise you people anything solid, but I can say with 100% certainty we’ll be flying dragons and burning villages (we’ll spare the wenches, we’re not all bad) by the end of 2011.”

Working a couple of big freelance projects. A little logo work and some full color illustrations of interiors. I am super excited to share the projects when they are done and introduce the you to the companies. Some of the work will be used in formats I have never seen my work in before and I think that will be amazing; I will have pictures.
