The white space

I have been trying to balance between creating work for the sake of creating and making work to get noticed. Its difficult because for everything I enjoy making I wonder, "will this be noticed?" Its silly really because work is hardly every noticed all of a sudden but gradually by an audience. I enjoy commissions and making work for a greater purpose, but there is something so pure about coming up with a concept and executing without any outside motivation. I look at a finished product and think, "this page was blank an hour ago and if I had decided to do this it would not exist right now." Its a kind of wonder I hope I never lose. The only time the wonder fades is when I have had time to look at my handiwork and think, "what's next?" Im waiting for the next rush of inspiration, but in the mean time I have an animal commission to finish.
